How do you get this free traffic, especially if you're in a competitive market like San Diego. Well to start you're not going to be able to simply say "San Diego Real Estate" and hope for the best...there are 37 Million results on Google for that search term. What if you talk more specifically about the section of San Diego that you work though?
Say you work in inland north county in a suburb called Rancho Bernardo (RB)...ok we're down to 237,000 results for Rancho Bernardo real estate. For some background RB has approximately 80,000 residents and average home prices hover around 500k+....so it's an extremely profitable niche if any specific Realtor can control it. Luckily for us, Google provides us with a free keyword tool which can help you find keywords that aren't being used by other agents.
I suggest you use this tool in the following way.
Enter your geographic area of influence and see what the keyword results are - you'll see how many people are searching for each keyword, in Realtors case local searches are typically the most important. You'll also see the amount of competition for advertising. In our specific example of RB there is 1600 monthly searches for "Rancho Bernardo Community" When we actually open a new window and check the results from Google we notice a couple of churches, the RB planning board and a news article.Now we know that everyone searching for that keyword probably isn't looking for a home right now, but they are clearly looking for information on RB. Might they sign up for your free eBook and become a client either months or years later...of course! We should also notice that on the first page of Google there is not a single real estate site listed. To me, this looks like an opportunity for a web savvy Realtor to gain market share in a lucrative area of San Diego.
